World Mental Health Day was 10th October, BUT it should be EVERYDAY!!!
That may sound like a bold statement, but good mental health is essential to everyone’s well being. Whether it’s anxiety, stress or low mood, our mental health can change throughout the day. It is said that 1 in 4 of us all will experience mental health issues. Mental health issues are harder to see but are just as ‘real’ as physical issues. We need to put this on a par with physical health issues so there’s no taboo.
There are many activities you can do to help yourself. There are effective coping strategies and skills that can be taught simply and easily like EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques).
I learnt EFT to help myself and it is my absolute ‘go to’ tool for myself and working with clients.
Some activities that can help are mindful gardening or any other activity that you can do in a mindful way. Exercise is great for well being and stress-relief and keeping low mood at bay. Exercise whether it’s a sport that you enjoy or a fitness club or gentle swimming or yoga all help with our well being.
Other therapies can help also like hypnotherapy, NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and Life Coaching. Learning how to use these techniques has been a joy, but the joy of using these techniques with clients is immense, particularly when I see clients return to their innate sense of peace and well being.
